Nanoscale Intimacy in Heterogeneous Catalysis
18 months post-doctoral position is available at the University of Poitiers at IC2MP in the area of heterogeneous catalysis. The research work will be carry out in strong interaction with two other academic laboratories (IRCELYON and LGPC, Lyon). Salary will be around 2000 € per month (depending on skills and experience) and this project is funded by ANR (INCH project). Candidates are advised to apply as early as possible. The selection process will begin in October 2018. The contract will begin in January 2019.
The project will focus on the nanoscale intimacy in bifunctional heterogeneous catalysis. It aims at investigate the nanoscale intimacy concept for the direct conversion of syngas to light olefins over bi-functional heterogeneous catalysts, to deeper understand the nanoscale intimacy from quantitative data and to define new intimacy criteria for getting high selectivity in heterogeneous bifunctional heterogeneous catalysis. The influence of nanoscale intimacy between metal/oxide (Cu/ZnO catalyst) and the acid sites of different zeolites (SAPO, HZSM5) will be investigated by the rational design of Cu/ZnO-zeolite catalysts (mechanical mixture, core-shell structure,…) according to recent fundamental study involving the development of mathematical models based on the contact quantification, in randomly packed sphere mixture1, sphere packing2 or concentric sphere geometry3, allowing to mimic the proximity between both active sites in a real hybrid bifunctional catalyst.
Qualifications: The candidate should have a PhD in heterogeneous catalysis (not older than 2 years) and a strong motivation and excellent work ethic. Fluency in French and English as well as good knowledge in heterogeneous catalysis and catalyst characterizations are required. The candidate should be very enthusiastic and should appreciate to work on a collaborative experimental-theoretical (IC2MP, IRCELYON and LGPC) project.
